I (Chef Jessica) just watched a documentary called Heal for Free, about earthing. It was an interesting presentation of why a deficit of connection with nature can deprive the human body of its own healing ability. I personally begin to wilt if I don’t get into nature on a regular basis, and there seems to be a scientific explanation.
I learned that because the earth maintains a slight negative electric charge, when humans are in direct skin contact with it, these electrons are conducted to the human body. This influx of negative electrons can neutralize the free radicals in the body and reduce inflammation.
Taking a walk barefoot on the beach or swimming in natural bodies of water like the ocean are great ways to ground the body and gain this balancing electro-effect.
Humans throughout history either walked barefoot or wore conductive footwear made of animal skins. They slept on the ground or on skins, benefitting from the bare earth’s abundant free electrons. This charge helped their bodies to attain equilibrium with the electrical potential of the Earth, stabilizing the electrical environment of the organs, tissues, and cells.
Our modern day shoes made with rubber act as insulators blocking this flow. Could plugging our bare feet into the earth be a great catalyst for health? Im willing to take one for the team and try it out. After all, its just a walk on the beach.
